  • 1. Pirates of the Bay

Absolutely the best excursion in PV -by day for the kids or by night for the adults. Features a live pirate show that is guaranteed to have you laughing so hard your tummy will hurt. Dinner is also included. Day trip features a snorkelling stop at a secluded beach.

  • 2. Isla Cuale
Great flea market located on a beautiful island in the centre of town. Time will disappear as you get lost in all the bargains! At the far end there is also a cultural centre where people learn various arts, from music to sculpting and painting. It is very relaxing to listen to the musicians there.

  • 3. Yelapa
A quaint Mexican village that just got electricity a couple of years ago, it is a great retreat from the busyness of PV. Go for the day, or better yet, stay overnight. On the main beach, there are several restaurants that are happy to serve you as you sunbathe. Also watch for the famous pie-lady serving up her fresh homemade pastry. Or you can go into town and explore the little stores. If you choose to walk up to the waterfall, check out Javier's Rosewood Shop on the way. All the carvings are hand-made on site. Finally, just enjoy the local hospitality. The people in Yelapa are great. As they say, "A palapa in Yelapa is better than a Condo in Redondo." Also see www.yelapa.info

  • 4. Las Caletas
    Las Caletas, Puerto Vallarta
Day trip to this unique island provides adventure and relaxation. Explore the many pathways meandering throughout the jungle landscape, visit with the animals, go scuba diving, or simply enjoy the romance of the place. There is an on-site spa and lunch is provided at beachside tables.

  • 5. Casa Kimberley
    Casa Kimberley, Puerto Vallarta
This was Liz Taylor's House, but is now known as Casa Kimberley. They give tours Mon- Sat 9am-4pm. This is your chance to sit on Liz Taylor's bed, walk across the pink arch connecting to Richard Burton's house, and see all the memorabilia left behind by Liz when she sold the house back in 1990. It's also fun to explore on foot the area surrounding the house called Gringo Gulch.

  • 6. Vallarta Adventures' Dophin Swim
    http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/dolphins/index.html
If you've never done this before, take the opportunity to bond with one of Nature's most intelligent animals. You'll get to talk with them, play with them, have them imitate your movements and go for a dolphin race while riding on their tummy. An experience you won't soon forget.

  • 7. The Salvation Army Community Centre
Located at 232 Sonoroa St. in Colones Mojoneras, the Captains welcome all visitors. Many of the Snowbirds help out with various programs. A wonderful way to interact with the local community. Donations are accepted. Cost by Taxi from El Centro is about $10US.

  • 8. El Panorama
    http://www.elpanorama.com/
For a fabulous view of the city and a 5-Star Dinner, go to El Panorama Restaurant, located on a hill overlooking the bay. Gourmet meals are prepared at your table while musicians play soothing melodies to calm your soul. Although a restaurant is not a day-trip, there couldn't be a better way to end any day than watching the sunset from this fabulous establishment.
